Vote on a New Rule

Post by GBDawg1 on Sun 31 Jan 2010, 11:39 am

Well, the question as to whether players should be allowed to play offensive players on defense and defensive players on offense sparked quite a debate, so the democratic thing in the circumstances is to put it to the vote. There are 3 options:

1. Vote "Yes" if you think it's ok to play players wherever you want to, irrespective of their "proper" position.
2. Vote "No" if you think that they should stick to their side of the game (i.e. offense or defense). We are not intending to prevent players picking OL's as TE's, TE's as WR's, CB's as FS's etc.
3. Choose option 3 if you think that we don't need a rule for this and it should be left to players to "do the right thing".

This will close on Saturday 6th February.

I think guys should be responsible and mature enough to be able to police this by themselves and do the right thing.

well if people think that playing darren sproles at linebacker is fair then i guess we do need this rule to let people know its not...

Chambers i have spoke to Dbatch about this while we were in game and he told me what the deal was, i mentioned sproles on d in our first game before disconection on here in the chatbox. Think its a case of Dbatch signing more DB's.

WOW!! Really cant believe this has that big of an issue. I have stated that I DID NOT put Sproles at LB or DB. For one if you go to your Depth Chart you will see you can not put your HB at LB or even DB (As I can see the only Offense of position you can cross play on Defense is your WR as a CB).It was computer controlled. Also heard of a few people talking about me in an ill manner. Which is a little childish due to none of you knowing me and some have never even played me. Ive been here sense this site has began if Im right I was one of the first few who did join. Im a pretty dedicated player and I post on this site frequently. All do respect to all who do get on here. If it is necessary to the Commish, Donnie and tottenhamdan I will step down as the Chargers Owner.

I don't want you to step down dbatch. As you said, you were one of the first to sign up on here and have been both dedicated and an active member of this forum.

People often jump to conclusions without knowing all the facts: it's human nature I'm afraid. However, the Sproles issue did spark some controversy, as you can see, but you are also right that when you look down the depth charts it has players of all kinds of positions showing.

Nevertheless, we have, from the outset, tried to make owners aware that we want to "keep it real" (or as real as we can for what, after all, is just a video game) and that's why we have strict rules. I thought at first that members would be unhappy at the number of rules we have, but it appears that, on the contrary, they have been embraced for the most part and indeed some would appear to want more rules.

I am not sure whether I particularly want a rule on this or not; that's why I put it to the vote. Personally, I would hope that people would "do the right thing" - it appears you need to get some players in at certain positions in order to prevent Sproles appearing on your defense though.

Anyway, whatever happens with the vote, we will go with the flow. All we are trying to achieve in this league is fair play.

usually player who are 3rd on the depthchard are on special teams.

3rd and 4th cb
4th wr
2nd SS and FS
3 rd mlb and 4 th mlb.

its some like that but note that if you have the same players in the same slot on different position the cpu will pick his own player.
like the same lolb in the 3rd slot is also 3rd in the rolb slot. cpu will pick the next player who usually is one of your stars.

hope this makes some sens lolz

I have the same problem with people like Braylon Edwards. Hopefully there will come a day when you can set up all play formations separately and select which personnel you want for each formation. There used to be a custom playbook function on the PC version of Madden. I haven't been that impressed with the PS3 version TBH - too many gimmicks like the HT show, which is fine a couple of times and then gets boring.

Outside of EAFL I was playing last night, and my WR Devin Hester turned up in the secondary.... not planned at all.... NOT on my depth chart, but there he was....

Two CBs out for the quarter, and called a Dime Cover 2.... Does this break a rule?

If not then how can we have a rule which states offence/defence cant play on the other side?

If yes, then how was I at fault? Have i lost a game because of a "bug" in the player selection algorithm

Theres nothing you can do about that mate. When your DB's get fatigued they get subbed out, if you haven't got any reserves then WRs will have to fill in.

guys take sometime to order your depht properly.
also based on a players stamina and position he plays you should know how many plays he can be on the field.
also positions like cb you should always have more then 4 on your roster and back up ss and fs can also be back up cbs.

its all just about ordering your depht properly.

I think it should not be a big deal as long as it happens 1 or twice a possesion but more than that is enough

You can only set 5 CBs on your depth chart, if you are forced into a lot of 4+ CBs eventually your guys will run out of stamina, if the number of corners and safeties you have is limited then the CPU will sub WRs in for you, can't do much about that.

But as a general rule I have to vote no on players playing both sides of the ball, only player to start on both sides of the ball in the past 40 years was Spencer Larson last year for the Broncos against the Falcons.
